Shmees2026-03-24Verificada Fantastic! Really informative and scenic tour, dress for the weather, bring cash for the handicrafts This is a wonderful tour where you eat a lot and you’ll learn a lot and you see a lot! We were a family of four including two adults, and two kids age 11 and 13. The Tour bus picked us up right on time and stopped at a few other hotels as well, so we got a little bit of a tour of the city on the way to the ranch. The tour started with a really cool sheepherding demonstration plus special coffee and hot chocolate for kids plus really delicious freshly made tortas fritas. From there we walked around and we saw some other sheep & a little cow, and my daughter got to feed a lamb with a bottle of milk. They also gave us a sheep shearing demonstration, which was really cool. Note that most of this tour takes place outdoors - so you should dress for the weather including hat, sunglasses, jacket and boots for walking a lot on a ranch! We visited a hut with ladies demonstrating traditional crafts. Note that you should bring lots of cash if you’d like to buy a souvenir here - they have really beautiful handmade woollen mittens and so on for sale, but the price was not cheap. $60,000 ARS for a pair of beautiful and soft woollen kids mittens. Then we stopped in a clearing outdoor outdoors by a creek for some delicious food and drinks. Then we visited the greenhouse where they grow the fruits and vegetables that they serve at dinner. During this time, the guide told us all about the history of Patagonia, of El Calafate, and of this ranch. There were people doing horseback riding tours as well on this ranch, but we did not do that. Eventually, it was time to walk back to the main building for dinner. First, there’s a film showing the history of the place. The dinner was so much food and it was so delicious. You really have to bring your appetite. Empanadas and a salad bar and a huge tray of meats. Excellent service. Drinks and dessert. There was no way we could eat all that food but it all was so delicious. We were getting worried about how late the night would be, considering we had kids with us, and we had a very early morning departure the next day for the glacier mini trekking. So rather than wait for the 10:00 pm group transfer (that was included in the price) we had them call us a taxi, and we just went right back to our hotel as soon as we finished eating. This ranch is really directly outside the town and the town is tiny so it’s really not far from all the hotels. With the start time around 5:30 PM you do have lots of time to do a morning tour and then visit the city during the afternoon, but I would not recommend trying to do this ranch tour after a full day of glacier trekking, or after a full day a boat tour to the glaciers, that will not work because you will be too tired. We were very impressed by guide Aye. She was well educated and we learned so much from her. The other staff was also very welcoming. The demonstration of the sheep herding with the gaucho and the sheep dog was very fun to watch. This excursion is a great supplement to all the other nature based activities in the area. Here you will learn more about the history of farming. And yes this tour is in the city centre so you will not visit a farm at the country side but the advantage is that you do not have to sit in a bus for a long time. We also enjoyed tasting the food and drinks during the tour. Ps we only did the farm visit due to time restrictions but I would definitely recommend to book the farm visit including dinner july54912025-04-18Verificada Hermosa experiencia Fuimos al día de campo con cena incluida. Tracy W2025-03-13Verificada Highly recommend Wonderful experience. They go above and beyond to give a full experience. There was something going on from the time that we arrived until after dinner when we left. Great dinner show and excellent staff. Mimi J2024-04-16Verificada Horseback riding, a fun alternative to the glaciers I highly recommend Patagonia Chic's "Horseback Riding Experience: Caves and Streams". From our introduction to our horses to our final dismount, Diego and Victoria were awesome guides -- and grill chefs! The horses were all in great shape and fun to ride. Our group had a variety of riding experience and we all loved our horses. Stellar views and interesting terrain. Bonus entertainment provided by the 2 ranch dogs who joined us, when they weren't off chasing rabbits. Thanks again Diego and Victoria!
